Roku Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Roku (/ˈroʊkuː/) is a line of digital media players manufactured by American company Roku, Inc. The devices offer access to streaming media content from various online services.

The line was introduced in May 2008 with its first model, developed in collaboration with Netflix. The Roku series has been considered influential on the overall market for digital media players, helping to popularize the concept of low-cost, small form factor set-top boxes designed for over-the-top media consumption.

A customer they lost talks about ROKU "What is going on with ROKU billing customer support? I tried to cancel HBO and Cinemax and then sign up for just HBO. They ended up double billing me. OK, stuff happens. It took about 5 e-mails of them blaming me before they finally issued me a refund. But it doesn't end there. When they refunded me the partial charge, they CANCELLED HBO without my authorization. Why - I have no idea. But when I restarted HBO they charged me for the full month, even though I had already paid for the full month. Again, I was DOUBLE charged. So they made it worse."

"Stay away from Roku the devices are designed to be way too small they run very hot almost hot enough to burn your skin when you touch them which causes them to fail very quickly in less than a year most Roku devices I have ever owned which has been for I hate to say have all burned out within a year my latest Roku which is their top of the line streaming stick no longer allows me to watch prime video Amazon streaming service even though I pay for the Roku hardware they decide what I watch and what I don't watch I contacted Amazon customer service they told me prime video is no longer compliant with Roku streaming devices once you update your Roku streaming device you will no longer be able to watch prime video Roku is driven by pure profit which I cannot blame a business for but they sell you a product that they tell you offers thousands of free and pay channels to watch then they decide what channels you get to watch if you go to a car dealership and buy a car the car dealer is not allowed to tell you where you can and cannot drive the car when I pay for hardware from Roku hardware that to begin with is a piece of crap that rarely lasts more than a year and then they start telling you what you can and cannot watch you cannot watch HBO you cannot watch peacock they say they offer peacock now they didn't in the past until I guess NBC coughed up millions of dollars but the peacock app does not load or work on Amazon it is a false flag making you think you can get peacock prime video no longer compliant devices that overheat and crash on almost a daily basis I have unplugged and plugged in my Roku to try to keep it running probably 20 to 25 times a week but I refuse to buy a new one I'm going to buy a different streaming service Roku has passed their prime Roku devices overheat on a continuous basis Roku devices crash constantly their vocal search is a joke you say war movies then it says I don't understand war movies it is reading back to you exactly what you said and is spelling it out but it says it doesn't understand it how can it not understand something if it is printing it out and calling it back to you searching for war movies is not a difficult search I'm not searching for 1920s movies starring Raymond Burr I am looking for war movies in general and the voice search cannot find anything it is a joke it is a waste of money any money spent on any new Roku devices is money wasted stay away they tell you what you kind of cannot watch when and if the streaming device actually works without crashing halfway through your movie because the device is red hot due to poor design and lack of any venting to cool the CPU"

"Roku, what a crap company. I am so angry I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. There is "NO" customer service from them period. You can't phone due to the Covid19 virus, but you can email their customer service only to get no response from them. If you suppose to have someone answering emails, then have a few answering telephones. Oh forgot, no one replies to me, your customer. So by the looks of it, I have to eat the money they owe me and I am going to yard out the two Roku streaming sticks and throw them into the garbage. I don't like being charged twice for the one product. Anyway, I am not a happy 69 year old."
